We love the extensive range of outdoor fabrics from Mokum Textiles. They’re a great way to add colour, pattern and texture to a space.
Outdoor fabrics do not always need to be bright and bold, despite contrary belief. Sometimes the play of texture and pattern in a neutral palette can make nature the hero and the outdoor furniture its harmonious partner.
Never underestimate the power of nature to be one of your best design accomplishes. Nature never gets it wrong - it’s pattern, colour and textural combinations are always perfect. When in doubt in terms of how to combine colours, just look to nature (either in your garden, at the local park or on your computer!)
And when you need to add a little something fresh, uplifting and dramatic to a space, consider adding flowers, greenery and all things gorgeous from nature. It’s a great way to make an instant impact to an area.
The combination of Warwick Flower Bomb colour Violet and Warwick Plush colour Olive were used recently to create a stunning velvet symphony for the bedroom of one of our clients. The result is impact, colour, texture and a burst of inspiration! We’re happy and our client is delighted.
Sometimes things that are practical are not beautiful and vice versa. In interior design we work from the ‘form follows function’ rule, which quite simply means function comes first and how something looks is secondary. This is very true when selecting materials that need to last for many years and by their very nature need to be terribly practical such as flooring, bench surfaces, tiles, exterior cladding and so on. However, the goal is not to apply this thinking too rigidly to absolutely everything when designing and decorating a space. Sometimes a beautiful, gorgeous, stunning cushion can be made from a fabric that’s not bullet-proof in terms of practicality. After all, a cushion doesn’t need to last as long as the fabric chosen for a sofa, for example. So I encourage you to apply the ‘form follows function’ rule, in fact I invite you to embrace it, and also to have some fun with beautiful things that inspire you. Like all good things in life, balance is the key!
Kravet recently celebrated 100 years of inspiring the design industry and one of their latest releases certainly shows why this company has been an industry leader for so long. Kravet’s Couture Modern Tailor range is clever, stunning and fabulous - we can’t wait to use it!
We love the look of Chivasso’s new Heaven’s Gate Velvet. The colours are bright, striking and fun. It feels like liquid silk to touch and a 300cm wide it’s a great fabric for drapery and bedding. The 40,000 Martindale rating makes it more than fit for purpose for upholstery too.
